Something one quickly learns upon moving to Montana
is that weather can CHANGE within minutes.
One day within the first months we were here
the weather channel said it was a high of 31 and a low of 7.
Well... when we awoke at 7am it was about 18 degrees outside.
Naturally (cuz California and Latin America operate this way)
I assumed that as the day progressed we would warm up.
NOPE!
The HIGH had happened at 2am,
and a cold front came in as the clock ticked by,
so by noon-ish it was 7 degrees outside.
Weird, right?
RIGHT!
But that's Montana for ya.
Weather phenomenons are the norm.
(Oxymoron, I know!)
Anyway- here's some fun pix of snow play,
taken in January before we moved.
BURIED
Sometimes the biggers are itching to play in the snow
but Mama wants to stay inside
and Daddy is workin' hard,
so they head out on their own.
This day Robbie chose to revel in the details
of the icy crystals found in the snow.
Taylor chose to swing in the branches
on the Hickle Elk Tire Swing.
We realized in January
that we had not yet taken Jacob out to venture in the snow!
Like not EVER!!
Poor third child!!!
So we couldn't let another big snow melt away
before we got him out there to enjoy it!
I wouldn't say the first impression was too grand...
But with a little help from a shovel
and the examples set by his big bro and sis
he quickly jumped into the fun with all the rest!
Robbie loves to shovel snow!
Taylor looks forward to any opportunity
to build a snowman with her Daddy!
Robbie often helps at the beginning,
and this time was successful at forming his own big snowball
creating the torso for our big family snowman.
Once the snowman is partially formed
Taylor wanders off to eat some snow.
And eat more snow
And some more snow!
Three Snow-Loving Marshmallows
Jacob even took to the idea
of getting a few nibbles of snow in!
The kiddos always spot the icicles.
But they aren't allowed to touch them
unless Daddy pulls them down for them.
They were STOKED when he said
they could play with a few that day!
Sometimes I look at Jacob Sterling
and I GRIN as I imagine all God has for him!
Sometimes I look at Robbie John
and he fills my SOUL with fluttery emotion and smiles!
Sometimes I look at Taylor Lee
and I just think she's GLOWING with beauty inside and out!
It's crazy to be a mom!
To watch your heart and soul walk around
in another person that so wholly makes you feel true joy.
To rejoice with them, to hurt with them.
These three children are such a gift.
An inexplicable blessing!
I gotta stop that,
I'm tearing up here!
Taylor has started taking pictures for us sometimes.
Take #1
Take #2
I love these peeps
It's not snowy outside (at this moment) today.
I've heard we could see something again later week.
I've learned not to count it out completely,
(Maybe I would count it out from July through September,
but everything else is fair game!)
and there are days I'm actually able to embrace that snow.
But I must say I am greatly enjoying
the signs of Spring we see outside this week!
So, winter?
Not Snow Much Anymore!
But pictures are still fun fun fun!
