I thought it would be fun to have my mom guest blog
about her love and admiration for Caleb
about her love and admiration for Caleb
since she's here visitin' us Hickles
--even though we attempted to get this out on Tuesday
but kids, activity and "us" time didn't allow for it
(but, Caleb, know that we prayed for you!)--
and she loves him just as much as I do!

(Expect a blog or two soon about her visit)
From Sharon Gowan, Mother of Caleb the Marine
As I've sat holding Robbie in these past few days,
my heart has traveled down memory lane
to what seems as yesterday with Caleb in my arms.
I vividly remember how I often asked aloud,
"What does God have planned for you?
"Who will you become?"
Caleb, each of your 25 years have provided a piece of your life puzzle.
From very, very young
your heart for God has played a huge role
in your perspective and choices.
And today, is no different.
I pray for your marriage:
As days become months and months become years I pray for
humility,
wisdom,
and godly leadership.
I also pray for a teachable heart
as God brought Nancy specifically in your life to teach you about Himself-
His love, grace & His faithful character.
I pray for your walk with God:
In your deployment I pray that you will know Him in a new way;
in your times of need- emotional, physical or spiritual
that you will experience His sufficiency in every area.
I pray that you sense His strength (even in a sleep-deprived state)
beyond what you would even ask for.
I pray for your career:
As you and Nancy experience the "military life" together
that you would both find peace and satisfaction
in whatever experiences God places on your path;
I pray that you both would be
open to any changes He may have in store for you;
I pray for wisdom beyond your years as you lead the men and women
God has placed under your leadership.
Life is a journey. You are on an adventure with God.
(I am convinced that every experience we encounter
is meant to shape and grow us.)
So my heart still cries out to Him,
"What does God have planned for you?"
"Who will you become?"
