I feel so much love for this sweet girl
She's the best date a Mama could ask for!
We chat, we giggle, we talk about her world
I don't think I'd long for anything more!
She's a passionate one
Loves to learn new things
Like how to swim, check! Done!
Next she'll be diving, picking up rings
Her imagination astounds me
When she pretends it's like she's there
Whether doctor, monster or referee
She's whole hearted about the whole affair
Her brothers adore her
They want to be like her in every way
They follow behind like a blur
And she's entertained by it [still] these days
Taylor's an adventurer and risk taker
She lives for adrenalin and rush
She'll likely be the first to break her
bones or fall and get embarrassingly flush
Friends are as important as food
She's an extrovert and social butterfly
People with her brightens her mood
Cousin, neighbor, stranger, girl or guy
Her Montana roots have proven strong
As horses, mountains, bike-riding and snow
Have become her most favorite life-long
Activities as she continues to grow
She's a naturally good helper
And she'll often sing along with a song
As she does chores, picks up or cleans our shelter
Then her brothers easily play along
See her hold her brothers' hands?
Taylor is tender, loving, kind
Tugs on my mama-heart strings and strands
Like nothing else I can find
Her first day of preschool this year
She was excited, nervous, and proud
As she talked about her teacher
Whom she'd greet with "Good Morning" aloud
The four of us walked her to school that day
And she was ecstatically chattering
Backpacks, crafts, ABC's and dress-up play
And then she said something most flattering,
"Mommy, I'll miss you while I am at school,
But I want you to know I'll be fine.
I'll listen to Mrs. Smith and the rules
But you're my favorite Mom of all time."
Mrs. Smith was with Taylor when we picked her up
And you could see they'd had a blast!
When we asked if it'd been a good day she said, "Yup!"
That day had just flown past!
She's girlie and likes to get fancy and pretty
Painted nails, lip gloss, earrings, necklaces and a ring
But even if she was the most decked-out in the city
I pray her humility and love for people remain
Taylor still does a downtime every afternoon
From 1pm to about 3:30 (three three zero)
She plays and she reads or pretends she's on the moon
Then often crashes on her Daddy's pillow
Although seriously contemplating or studying much of the day
Taylor also can be very silly
Sometimes it's monkey faces or Santa in his sleigh
But this day she was feeling quite squidly
Taylor enjoys receiving cards in the mail
So we've taught her it's fun to send too
These are two examples of cousin love sent by snail
It's often random sequences of stories and pretend too
Fearles is a word that aptly describes Taylor Lee
She'll stare a tiger in the face- separated by glass- only inches
She'll swing high at the park or when climbing trees
And look down at rivers when we cross on bridges
Sometimes I look and see my mini-me
Sometimes I see only her Dad
But the true beauty is what God made her to be
To grow more like him, and like us just a tad
Her attitude when faced with adversity is amazing
She missed Halloween because of Chicken Pox
I'm sure God'll use her for some trail blazing
She leads, she tries, she hopes and prays, she talks
She finds pleasure in simple things like cheese fries
And cares for the people around her. She treats
Them with kindness, she's observant and wise
Leaving an impact on every person she meets.
A wise man once told me how people use 'bossy' about girls
But boys are referred to as strong or as leaders
Yes, we'll teach her not to boss around the whole world
But we know she'll be a great influencer or teacher
She's consistent in sharing her heart for others
She cares for them, prays for them, wants them succeeding
Whether friends, strangers, cousins or brothers
She'll end up being a person we see truly leading!
She's passionate, imaginative, forgiving, merciful,
A giver, a choice-maker, an idea girl, our Taylor
She's sensitive, beautiful, observant, giving, faithful
My love for her and hope for her couldn't be greater
She finds picnics in the living room to even be fun
Board games, puzzles, snuggle-up-to-mom movies
When the weather does not allow us to go play in the sun
We will sometimes build forts together and forget all our duties

She's begun to get more artistic and creative when she draws
This evening she drew every member of our family of five
Hair, eyes, mouth, arms, hands and shoes, of course, because
Every one of us must have those things to stay alive!
This Taylor Lee Hickle of ours is truly
A beloved and blessed gift all around
We're grateful for each day God gives us newly
To love on her, and to watch her grow leaps and bounds!
She's a gift and we love her lots and lots
I'm grateful I get to be her Mom!
I pray for her til my stomach unties the knots
and ask God to keep her in his palm!
She has lots to say, this girl of many words,
And I feel like we hear a boat-load
About people, the movies, her books or even the birds
So I wrote down a bit of our quote-load!
Some funny Quotes of Taylor's:
*while driving around town,
running errands in our minivan-
out of the blue*
"Mom, some people are different colors than just peach.
Some are brown and some are white.
And some people have different hair too."
*Greg and I were chatting at dinner
about how a clock was broken
that's way up on a wall of a vaulted ceiling.
She was not a part of that conversation,
but was obviously paying attention.*
"So let me get this straight!
You want ME to climb up THERE
and get that clock fixed?"
*During the post season of baseball
our tv was basically never off
so she heard a lot of baseball commentary,
and also knows we never root for the Yankees.
She was listening to the Christian Radio Station
during her downtime,
and came running out, wide-eyed*
"Mom! Dad!
The man on the RODEO just said
the guy for the Yankees is TIRED!
Is that good?"
(Derek Jeter reTIRED that week! ha!)
*Talking to herself*
"What shall I name my first son?
How about Son-uble,
and my next son will be Basketball."
*She helped a waiter at Red Robin
pick up something that dropped off a neighboring table*
"If someone needs help and I see 'em,
that's when I help them!"
*Looking for a place to sit in the living room*
"I'm gonna sit here on the shoulder."
(the arm of the couch!)
*Giving me a hug around my waist,
let's go and whispers to my belly button*
"Come on out little Sister! You can do it!"
(no- we're not pregnant!)
*As we walked to school one morning*
"Dear Jesus,
please put a little heat around me.
I am cold walking to school."
*With some attitude*
"Mom! Careful!! It's expensive!"
*I asked her what expensive meant*
"It means REALLY breakable!"
*I went in to wake her from falling asleep
during her down time.
I slipped my arms under her and lifted her
saying, "Time to get up Gorgeous!"
With her eyes still not yet open...*
-Sigh- "Seriously?"
